If your nanny or a member of domestic staff has been – or is expected to be – off ill for 4 weeks or more, a new Government scheme aims to help them to get back to work as soon as possible.

Managing without a nanny if they are ill for an extended period can be very difficult. But as an employer, you are now able to contact the Government’s Fit for Work service for advice or to refer your nanny for an assessment. Referrals can also be made by GPs.

With the nanny’s consent a 45-minute health assessment will be carried out by a health professional and a Return to Work Plan agreed.
