As per the Spring Budget announcement…
The rate of Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) will increase from the current £109.40 per week to £116.75 per week.
Please note:
- Employers are obliged to pay SSP to an employee who is sick for four or more working days in a row
- This is applicable regardless of length of service
- The rate of SSP is stipulated by legislation, although any additional sick payment can be made at the discretion of the employer
- SSP can be paid up to a maximum of 28 weeks
- SSP is NOT recoverable from HMRC
