Now Pensions recently conducted a survey in partnership with charity, Debate Mate. There were some interesting findings in relation to the proposed expansion of Auto Enrolment.

The Department of Work and Pensions recently confirmed that it will support proposals to expand Auto Enrolment:

The bill proposes to :

  1. Abolish the lower earnings limit for contributions (employees currently need to be earning over £833.33 gross per month, or £192.30 gross per week to be Automatically Enrolled).
  2. Reduce the age for being Automatically Enrolled to 18 years old (it is currently 22 years old).

The bill will not result in immediate change, and there will be a statutory requirement to consult and report before implementation. However, a recent survey carried out by NOW Pensions found that people aged between 11 and 27 years old, support the government proposal!

Taxing Nannies will keep you full informed on any developments, but in the meantime please visit .gov.uk for more details on the proposal.
